May 08, 2025

One Brooklyn Health is proud to announce Dr. Sandra Scott as Chief Executive Officer of One Brooklyn Health.
Dr. Scott has served as the Interim CEO since January 2024, while the Board conducted a competitive national search for a permanent CEO. In her new role as permanent CEO, Dr. Scott will continue to oversee the strategic leadership, network management, and financial performance of the hospital network. She will work closely with the Board of Trustees and staff to set the long-term vision, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure that OBH achieves its financial, operational, and strategic goals. Under Dr. Scott’s leadership, over 7,000 employees will provide enhanced access to high-quality medical care, keep their communities healthy through an integrated care system that respects the diversity of their communities, and address the health needs that shape them.
“With her robust experience and passionate commitment to One Brooklyn Health, we are pleased to see Dr. Sandra Scott assume the role as permanent CEO to ensure that OBH continues its commitment to patient-centered care” said Dr. Alexander Rovt. Chairman of the Board of Trustees. “Now more than ever before, we need cornerstone, community hospitals to provide equitable access to healthcare for our families and patients that are in the most vulnerable neighborhoods. And Dr. Scott is the right leader for OBH.”
Previously, Dr. Scott served as the Executive Director of the Brookdale Hospital Center for nearly three years and served as Chair of OBH’s Department of Emergency Medicine. When she assumed the role as Executive Director at Brookdale, Dr. Scott made history by becoming the first woman, physician, and person of color to lead the hospital in its 100-year history.
Dr. Scott has also led Brookdale’s efforts to address health equity and Black women’s maternal health issues. Dr. Scott joined U. S. Senator Chuck Schumer to champion the Maternal Health Momnibus Act to address disparities in women’s healthcare.
“I am honored to serve as the new CEO of One Brooklyn Health - an institution that is so important to me and vital to the communities we serve. I look forward to continuing to work with the Board of Trustees and staff on our mutual, steadfast commitment to providing our communities with the best medical care and breaking down barriers to healthy living,” said Dr. Sandra Scott.
Dr. Scott is a graduate of Louisiana State University, and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Boston Medical Center. She also served as the Chief of Service for Emergency Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Lincoln Medical Center in the South Bronx. Throughout her career, Dr. Scott has worked exclusively in safety-net hospitals such as Kings County and Brookdale. Her priority goal is to serve and uplift communities with health and equity disparities both in the U.S. and abroad.
