The federal public health emergency has officially ended, and in accordance with current recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we are modifying our current Universal Mask Use Protocol.
Effective immediately, mask use among staff, patients, and visitors on all OBH campuses and ambulatory sites is optional, unless indicated for a specific communicable condition, recommended by Employee Health Services, or in the designated areas outlined below.
While COVID-19 rates have decreased they are not zero. In an effort to protect populations that are most vulnerable to SARS-COV2, we will continue to mandate mask wearing in designated areas and during clinical care encounters.
- Masks are mandatory for staff and visitors when entering a patient room on all inpatient clinical units.
- Masks are mandatory for staff, patients and visitors when entering a consultation/exam room in all ambulatory sites during clinical encounters.
- Masks are mandatory for staff and patients during transport throughout the hospital.
- Masks are mandatory for staff, patients, visitors, and vendors at all times in the emergency departments.
While masks are no longer mandatory, it is crucial that we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our patients, staff, and visitors by following standard infection control practices such as hand washing. Please keep in mind that this guidance can be modified at any time in response to changes in community transmission levels or updated recommendations by local public health officials.
