Dr. Alvin Htut is a highly skilled transplant hepatologist who has recently joined the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine at One Brooklyn Health. A life-long New Yorker, Dr. Htut earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center, followed by a Gastroenterology fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr. Htut further specialized in transplant hepatology through fellowship training at Montefiore Medical Center.
In addition to his role at One Brooklyn Health, Dr. Htut is a transplant hepatologist at Northwell Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation and serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Before joining Northwell, he was the Chief of Hepatology at Montefiore New Rochelle for over two years.
Dr. Htut’s expertise includes the management of acute liver failure, acute hepatitis, viral hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, cirrhosis, portal hypertension, liver cancer, and the long-term care of liver transplant recipients. He is dedicated to the care of patients with end-stage liver disease both before and after liver transplantation.
