One Brooklyn Health is advancing breastfeeding support in the Brownsville community through the “Improving Breastfeeding Outcomes in Brownsville, NY” initiative, funded by a grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Under the mentorship of Dr. Mascoll-Robertson, Clinical Medical Director of Neonatology, Keresha Bird-Williams, MD, Pediatric Resident Physician, received the grant and will lead the initiative at OBH Brookdale.

The project aims to improve breastfeeding initiation and duration by increasing exclusive breastfeeding at hospital discharge from 5% to 10% and overall breastfeeding rates from 75% to 85%. It will also strengthen ongoing support for mothers during the first six months postpartum. By connecting hospital care, education, and community-based support, One Brooklyn Health is building a more coordinated approach to improving maternal and infant health in our communities.
