Our Time Press featured Part 1 of One Brooklyn Health’s Maternal & Infant Health Series, “Giving NICU Babies the Best Start,” authored by Kemi Mascoll-Robertson, MD, FAAP, Clinical Medical Director of Neonatology at One Brooklyn Health.
In the op-ed, Dr. Mascoll-Robertson discusses the unique benefits of breast milk for premature and medically fragile infants, the importance of specialized NICU care, and the critical role parents play as members of their baby’s healthcare team. She also highlights the comprehensive support available at OBH Brookdale Hospital, a Baby-Friendly Hospital, from prenatal and lactation education to individualized feeding support during a NICU stay and continued resources after discharge.
The feature also highlights OBH’s Improving Breastfeeding Outcomes in Brownsville initiative and the health system’s broader commitment to providing mothers, babies and families with continuous support throughout their care journey.
