February is American Heart Health Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart disease and the importance of cardiovascular health. In his op-ed, “Protecting The Heart of Brooklyn ,” Dr. Hal L. Chadow, Chair of Cardiology at One Brooklyn Health, addresses common questions about heart health and highlights the importance of prevention and early intervention.
He says " Heart disease is called “silent” because it can develop slowly over many years, beginning after the first decade of life, often without causing obvious symptoms. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and smoking can quietly damage the heart, blood vessels anywhere in the body..."
