OBH offers specialized women’s health care for every stage of life. We treat thousands of patients every year needing healthcare support for adolescence, adulthood, pregnancy, menopause, and beyond. Our obstetricians, gynecologists, and other women’s health care professionals offer care and support for a full array of women’s needs, from routine exams to more complex and challenging medical situations.
For pregnant mothers, we have a Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine to care for newborns, including a newborn intensive care unit for diagnosing and treating sick newborn babies. Our neonatal intensive care unit is the most advanced of its kind in the city – designated a Level III and a tertiary care referral center for New York City. Every member of our specialized team will work closely with mothers, babies and families who need extra care and support during and after childbirth.

One Brooklyn Health Brookdale (OBH) is pleased to help support nursing mothers on their journey to nursing their babies. In doing so, OBH implemented best practices by following the Tens Steps of Successful Breastfeeding. This advancement proved incredibly efficient, and as such, Brookdale was officially designated by Baby Friendly U.S.A and recognized by the World Health Organization as a Baby Friendly facility in 2022.
We aim to ensure that every mother is fully informed of the importance of breastfeeding and receives the help she needs to achieve her breastfeeding goals. An abundance of scientific evidence concludes that mothers and babies who breastfeed experience improved health outcomes and lower risks for certain diseases. Breastfeeding is the natural biological conclusion to pregnancy and an important mechanism in the natural development of the infant.

One Brooklyn Health Maternal Care, is proud to offer Centering Pregnancy! This wonderful program brings groups of 8-12 moms-to-be with similar due dates, as well as their support partners for the opportunity to learn and address all aspects of wellness during pregnancy, not just your physical health. Centering pregnancy is intended to help moms-to-be feel more supported and empowered during their pregnancies, learn their birthing rights, build a better relationship with their provider and help ensure they have all the tools needed to help guide them through a successful pregnancy, labor and delivery experience.
Providing care in this way allows moms and providers to relax and get to know each other on a much deeper and meaningful level. Members of the group form lasting friendships and are connected in ways not possible in traditional care.

-After the assessment, you are provided with referrals and services that address your family’s needs and goals.
-Services may include in-home visits beginning on a weekly basis and decreasing over time as your family’s needs change. Home visits typically last an hour. Healthy Family services are offered for 3 and up to 5 years after the birth of the baby.

HealthySteps is a program that provides early childhood development support to families right in the pediatric primary care office. A child development expert, known as a HealthySteps Specialist, connects with families either before, during or after their scheduled well-child visits with the pediatrician. The HealthySteps Specialist helps monitor whether children are meeting developmental milestones, connect families to any needed services, and answer families’ non-medical questions. A Specialist can offer guidance for common and complex parenting challenges such as feeding, crying, sleeping, attachment, tantrums, parental depression, and adapting to life with a baby or young child. They can provide referrals and care coordination for those who need additional support or resources for the whole family. We meet caregivers and children where they are so that all babies and toddlers have a strong start in life. HealthySteps is currently available for all families with children ages 0-3 who see a pediatrician at Brookdale Family Care Centers Eastern Parkway, New Lots and Linden.
