When traumatic events occur, you can count on One Brooklyn Health to be the place to go for immediate help. Our Trauma Service evaluates, admits and treats all patients needing immediate care. We see over 20,000 trauma-related ER visits each year, and we are equipped to handle them through our emergency departments, operating rooms, critical care units and supporting service staff.
OBH has an American College of Surgeons Verified Level II Trauma Center. The center has specially trained trauma surgeons, physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members to care for the most seriously injured patients. A trauma center differs from an emergency department in that a trauma center has an array of services available such as an operating room, radiology services, surgical and medical specialists, and an intensive care unit, which are available 24/7/365. In essence, the whole hospital is a trauma center.
The Trauma Service also provides patient education and community outreach at events throughout the year to keep our community safe from injury. In addition, we provide education to health professionals through courses such as the Advanced Trauma Life Support Course and the Disaster Management and Emergency Preparedness Course. We are here when you need us most.
