OBHS IN THE COMMUNITY

2020 Census: Make Brooklyn Count

Outreach to local residents on digital platforms:

– Phone banking: The OBHS Census team has been utilizing the census phone data platform “Hustle” to engage residents within our  zip code catchments. The list includes thousands of residents in Brooklyn and has been a viable outreach resource.

– The team also calls residents who previously committed pledges from cards at census teach-ins and information sessions collected by team members prior to COVID-19 restrictions.

– Text banking:  Text messaging is used for those not reachable by phone. This method is being used for large groups for partnership collaborations, specifically our clergy partner councils who encourage commitments AND organizing census completion assistance among parishioners.

Social media engagement:

– The OBHS Census teams have been building social media content around the census availability online with daily posts on social media platforms on both OBHS and personal accounts

– Posting census facts and online availability plus phone assistance for completion through the NYC regional census office email and census hotline

– Reposting and sharing existing YouTube census tutorial videos

Livestreamed Events:

– OBHS hosted Facebook Live discussions on the importance of census with additional interviews to supplement our ongoing campaigns in April, the critical census completion phase.

– Partnering with clergy leadership to incorporating census messaging into virtual church services Skype, Zoom and Facebook Live.

Social media “boosting”:

Targeted posts will be promoted with ads to ensure a broader reach per posting.
